Job Title: Immigration Attorney
Job Overview:
A reputable law firm in Austin, TX, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Immigration Associate Attorney to join its Family Immigration and Removal department. The position plays a pivotal role in supporting clients through complex immigration matters, particularly in removal defense and family-based immigration. Duties:
Primary Responsibilities:
Draft motions, petitions, affidavits, briefs, and related immigration filings
Perform legal research on evolving immigration laws, policies, and case law
Manage a portfolio of cases independently, ensuring deadlines and compliance requirements are met
Analyze case facts and client data to devise effective legal strategies
Maintain regular communication with clients, government agencies (e.g., USCIS, EOIR, ICE), and external counsel
Organize and maintain legal files and documentation according to internal protocols
Secondary Responsibilities:
Provide support to additional departments during high-volume periods
Supervise and mentor legal support staff and paralegals as assigned
Collaborate with senior leadership on firm initiatives and special projects
Contribute to operational efficiency by proposing improvements to procedures and systems
Requirements:
Active license to practice law in the state of Texas
Legal experience, preferably in immigration or administrative law
Fluent in spoken and written Spanish
Comfortable managing interactions with clients from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrated ability to manage a busy caseload with minimal supervision
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Undergraduate degree preferred in fields such as Political Science, International Studies, or Business Administration
Certifications:
Admission to the Texas State Bar (required)
Skills:
Exceptional legal writing, research, and analytical abilities
Clear and empathetic communication skills, especially with vulnerable populations
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
Competency in legal practice management software and document automation tools
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced legal setting
