Duties

  • Draft original motions, pleadings, and litigation documents.
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery requests.
  • Develop case defenses and litigation strategies.
  • Analyze case law and regulatory authority for pre-trial motions.
  • Interview and prepare witnesses for testimony.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Argue motions and participate in court appearances.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through effective communication.
  • Draft pre-trial reports and perform risk analysis.
  • Participate in mediations and settlement conferences.
  • Supervise work performed by paralegals and support staff.
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel.
  • Engage in networking and business development activities.
  • Mentor junior attorneys within the firm.
  • Provide support on complex litigation matters.
  • Meet annual billable hour requirements.

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of litigation experience in a law firm.
  • Active admission to practice law in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
  • Experience in environmental law, commercial litigation, or similar areas.
  • Strong client service orientation and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with document management systems preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active law license in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
