A law firm seeks a highly skilled Labor and Employment Attorney with expertise in employee benefits to join their legal team in Houston, TX. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal counsel on labor and employment matters, including workplace policies, compliance with labor laws, employee relations, and benefits.

Duties

• Advise clients on labor and employment law, including wage and hour laws, discrimination, and employee relations issues.
• Assist in developing and reviewing company policies to ensure compliance with employment laws.
• Represent clients in employment-related disputes before governmental agencies.
• Provide legal guidance on employee benefits matters, including retirement and health plans.
• Work with HR and Benefits departments to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Monitor legislative changes affecting labor and benefits law and advise clients accordingly.
• Draft and review employment agreements and other employment-related contracts.
• Collaborate with clients' HR, finance, and other departments on compliance and policy matters.

Requirements

• Admission to the bar in Texas.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in labor and employment law, focusing on employee benefits law.
• Strong understanding of state and federal employment laws and regulations.
• Experience in litigation, negotiations, and settlements related to labor and employment disputes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the bar in Texas.

Skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience working with corporate executives on strategic legal matters.
