Aon is looking for a Counsel, North America As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our Law department based in Minneapolis, MN. Your impact as a Counsel, North America Aon is seeking an attorney for the position of Counsel. The successful candidate will provide legal counsel across Aon’s consulting and insurance brokerage businesses throughout the United States and globally, with an initial focus on its commercial risk businesses, but also including its health, global benefits, affinity, investment, retirement and other businesses. Ideal candidates will have strong commercial or corporate legal experience, enabling them to excel in the following areas.Job Responsibilities:Drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements relating to Aon’s consulting and brokerage businesses, including agreements with clients, insurance carriers, vendors, strategic partners, and others;Serving as a strategic partner to Aon’s North American business leaders as we grow our business; manage regulatory and other risks; drive harmonization across solution lines; and develop new products and service offerings;Working with law department and business leadership to assist/lead on a variety of projects related to process improvements, risk mitigation and legal policy development;Analyzing and maintaining insurance brokerage compensation disclosure methodologies and business practices consistent with applicable state and federal requirements;Assisting the business in responding to clients’ requests for proposals;Collaborating with colleagues in management, sales, operations, client support, the business, compliance, operations, client support teams, and a global team of other in-house counsel; andProviding legal advice to manage complaints, errors and omissions and otherwise generally supporting risk mitigation functions.You Bring Knowledge and Expertise J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and a current license to practice law in the United States2-5 years of strong commercial or corporate legal experience in a well-regarded law firm or in-house legal settingIdeally, experience in insurance, including U.S./state regulatory expertise and track record of advising on complex insurance brokering transactions, in addition to experience in health, commercial transactions, financial services, global contracting, and/or investment advisory industries, along with related regulatory regimesExcellent contract drafting, negotiation, verbal and written communication skillsVersatility to seamlessly support different businessesAbility to work collaboratively, with a focus on teamwork over individualismHigh level of self-direction and sound judgmentAbility to provide practical, timely solutions to business partners that appropriately balance commercial objectives and legal risksAbility to independently manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously We offer you A competitive total rewards package, continuing education & training, and tremendous potential with a growing worldwide organization.
