Job Overview

An Am Law 100 law firm is seeking an experienced Innovation Attorney – AI to lead and support the integration of artificial intelligence (including generative AI, large language models, and emerging legal technologies) into the legal practice. This role will collaborate across practice groups and business units, working closely with the innovation leadership team to drive adoption and strategic use of AI in legal service delivery.

Duties

• Lead and manage AI-related initiatives and legal technology projects firmwide

• Collaborate with practice group innovation leads to implement AI solutions

• Provide one-on-one support and coaching to attorneys on generative AI tools and applications

• Design and conduct training programs, workshops, and learning sessions focused on AI and legal tech

• Facilitate brainstorming sessions and design-thinking exercises to identify AI use cases

• Develop resources such as prompt libraries and practice-specific workflows

• Supervise and support AI & Tech Ambassador programs across practice groups

• Serve as subject matter expert on firm-approved generative AI tools and their capabilities

• Track and analyze usage metrics, benchmarks, and industry trends related to legal AI

• Engage with technology vendors for tool evaluation, pilot testing, and feedback

• Assist with the onboarding, rollout, and adoption of new legal technologies

• Interface with clients on AI capabilities and legal tech strategy

• Create case studies and internal/external materials to highlight innovation efforts

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of experience practicing law in a large law firm setting

• Deep familiarity with legal tech and proven success in driving technology adoption

• Expertise in generative AI, large language models, and machine learning within legal environments

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences

• Ability to manage complex projects with limited standardization or precedent

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

• Proactive mindset and capacity to independently manage multiple tasks

• Comfortable working across all organizational levels and departments

• Positive, collaborative, and innovation-focused approach

• Willingness to travel as needed

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

• Admitted to practice and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Certifications

• Legal tech or innovation-related certifications are advantageous but not required
