Job Overview

A law firm seeks a mid-level associate to join its Labor and Employment Department in Los Angeles, CA. The successful candidate will work with a dynamic team handling a wide range of employment-related matters for diverse clients, including litigation, class actions, and labor relations.

Duties

• Assist in defending wage and hour class actions and PAGA representative actions.
• Handle discovery, conduct witness interviews, and brief class certification issues.
• Defend single-plaintiff employment cases in state and federal court and arbitration.
• Manage discovery, take and defend depositions, and draft dispositive motions.
• Represent clients in administrative hearings and respond to EEOC and CRD charges.
• Collaborate with partners on case strategy and take ownership of matters.

Requirements

• 3-6 years of relevant California labor and employment experience.
• Experience defending wage and hour class actions and PAGA actions.
• Experience in single-plaintiff employment cases in California.
• Experience in administrative hearings and EEOC/CRD charges.
• Advising on California labor and employment compliance is preferred.
• Traditional labor law experience is a plus.
• Strong academic background and legal research skills.
• Admission to the California Bar is required.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the California Bar.
