Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm located in Charleston, SC, is seeking a highly skilled Technical Advisor to join its dynamic Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group. The role is focused on supporting the firm’s Electrical Engineering & Software team, specializing in patent prosecution and litigation in emerging technologies. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys on cutting-edge matters in the field of intellectual property.

Duties:

• Assist in preparing and filing patent applications and supporting patent litigation matters
• Conduct in-depth technical analysis related to patents in electrical engineering, software, and telecommunications
• Review patent portfolios and provide technical insights to attorneys
• Collaborate with attorneys to prepare arguments, briefs, and technical reports
• Participate in client meetings and provide technical support
• Research and analyze the latest developments in wireless communications, including standards like 5G and 6G (experience in this area is desirable but not required)
• Support preparation for legal proceedings, including depositions and trial preparation

Requirements:

• Strong understanding of electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong organizational and analytical abilities
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Ability to quickly learn complex technical concepts
• Familiarity with wireless communication technologies (such as 5G, 6G, and 3GPP standards) is a plus but not mandatory

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field

Skills:

• Strong technical writing and analytical skills
• Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
• Excellent research and problem-solving abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
• Experience with patent databases and research tools is beneficial
