Employment Law and Privacy Paralegal
Duties: Supporting employment law and privacy law related issues, and Employee Relations (ER) matters across our global, 7000+ employee population. supporting employment law and employee relations matters and 50% allocated to global privacy matters. Supports multiple functions, will report directly to the Sr. Director, Employment Law and Employee Relations. Support development of the ER function as a Center of Expertise that sits within the Legal Department and specializes in establishing the policies, considerations, and global framework of ER. Support employment-related legal and ER issues including hiring processes, performance development and improvement, internal investigations and separation. Support the ability to scale the practices, procedures, and policies that ensure commitment to culture and core values while maintaining our legal obligations. Ensure a consistent approach to data and compliance with global laws. Support the US Privacy Team and OUS as needed. Research issues, maintain self-help guides, coordinate cross-functional efforts, and assist in organization. Support, including administrative, for the employment law and ER functions of the Legal Department, HR Team and business leaders on a range of global employment law and or employee relations issues including those relating to recruiting, hiring, performance management, workforce restructuring and re-organizations, compensation and benefits, separations, accommodations, leaves of absence, inclusion and diversity programs, FLSA classification and contingent workforce management, and other employment law and ER matters. Support employment litigation and pre-litigation matters. Partner in drafting or revising various correspondence, reports, presentations, policies and employment-related agreements. Assist and support the development of ER as a Center of Expertise, by supporting the building of a global ER framework, function brand and design, implementation and management of our ER processes and programs. Serve as communication support point for HRBPs globally regarding performance management, ER cases, and investigations, including supporting scheduling and facilitation of witness interviews, notetaking and document consolidation, supporting layout and preparation of template draft investigation reports and draft recommendations. Support creation and delivery of manager and/or employee training and education programs in support of a high performance management culture and as a preventative measure. Support legal invoice processing, coordination and/or submission of employment law insurance reports and timely claims filing, Support design of procedures for, and maintain structured comprehensive case files and file indexes for workplace litigation, investigation, and other employee matters. Prepare monthly litigation and Employee Relations case tracking reports. Use provided resources to keep abreast of legal and legislative developments to support compliance efforts with international, federal, state and local employment laws. Other duties as may be assigned pertaining to employment law or employee relations. Support, including administrative, for global privacy work on a range of privacy and data protection issues including those relating to employee and customer data collection and usage. Assistance with audits, reporting, disclosures, contracts, correspondence, policies, and procedures. Coordinate and partner with team to support and facilitate defined processes, including as a point of contact for questions and light edits. Support self-help toolkit use, including interacting with client base, updating for changes in the law, and organization / retrieval of information. Research on legal updates as needed. Provide support to help identify, screen, and escalate privacy related inquiries and Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) with an eventual eye towards helping to improve on existing privacy response processes and, if desired, take on increasing responsibility in their implementation. Organize and coordinate privacy and data protection databases.
