Job Overview:
A high-volume immigration law firm is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney with a strong background in litigation and written advocacy. This role involves researching and drafting responses to Requests for Evidence (RFE), Notices of Intent to Deny (NOID), and appellate briefs. The ideal candidate is a motivated problem solver, capable of crafting creative arguments and possessing experience in immigration cases. This fully remote position provides an opportunity to impact clients’ lives by working on complex and meaningful cases.

Location:

  • Powell, OH 

Duties:

  • Analyze and evaluate communications from USCIS, including RFEs, NOIDs, appeals, and application denials.
  • Assess application materials and identify additional evidence required for USCIS responses.
  • Review case submissions and supporting documents before submission for attorney approval.
  • Train a team of writers in written advocacy, research, and litigation skills to prepare initial drafts for review.
  • Mentor a team of support specialists responsible for working with clients to provide timely, additional evidence for responses.
  • Track trends in RFEs to improve response and application processes.

Requirements:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Experience with drafting responses to RFEs or NOIDs is highly preferred.
  • At least one year of experience as an immigration attorney is ideal, but not required.
  • Familiarity with immigration case types like VAWA, T-Visa, U-Visa, Asylum, and other applications is a plus.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus, but not required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in any U.S. state or territory.

Skills:

  • Proven ability to train and mentor team members on complex topics.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in legal research and drafting for complex immigration cases.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with a willingness to develop out-of-the-box legal arguments.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
