Job Overview:
A well-established, downtown Tacoma law firm is seeking a Family Law Associate Attorney with a passion for family law. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to handle a variety of family law cases and will be mentored by senior attorneys. The firm offers a dynamic environment, where the associate will gain increasing authority over their own cases, including client meetings, drafting motions, and representing clients in mediations, arbitrations, and trial settings.

Location:

  • Tacoma, Washington

Duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support case preparation and strategy.
  • Draft motions, briefs, client advice letters, and other legal documents.
  • Advocate for clients both inside and outside the courtroom.
  • Handle discovery, including written discovery requests and depositions.
  • Prepare for and represent clients throughout all stages of family law cases, including mediation, arbitration, and trial.
  • Assist in case strategy and litigation by preparing case files, organizing evidence, and collaborating with senior attorneys.
  • Maintain organized records of legal documents and correspondence related to ongoing cases.
  • Manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of practice experience in family law or litigation.
  • Admission to the Washington State Bar and in good standing with WSBA.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proven effectiveness in managing multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both inside and outside the courtroom.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to identify client goals and communicate effectively with clients.
  • Positive attitude and ability to establish rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Washington State Bar.

Skills:

  • Excellent research, writing, and legal drafting skills.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases with competing deadlines.
  • High-level communication and client management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
