A law firm seeks a Data Protection and Commercial Contracts Counsel in Tampa, FL. This role involves leading the firm's data protection strategy and assisting with commercial contracts to ensure compliance with relevant laws and ethical obligations. The Counsel will collaborate with various departments to support efficient contracting and responsible data management.

Duties

• Develop and maintain data protection strategies, policies, and procedures.
• Advise on data protection and AI legal developments.
• Review and negotiate vendor and client contracts.
• Monitor compliance with data protection policies and laws.
• Support incident response and remediation efforts.
• Conduct data protection training and promote a culture of compliance.
• Assist with client data protection audits and inquiries.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data protection and privacy risk management.
• Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Strong understanding of U.S. privacy and data processing laws.
• Familiarity with GDPR and foreign data protection laws.

Education

• JD from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar license in state of residence and office location.
• CIPP/US and CIPP/AIGP certifications preferred.
