Job Overview

A law firm seeks a dedicated and knowledgeable Associate Attorney in Poughkeepsie, NY. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience, with a strong foundation in trust and estate planning and administration. Transactional real estate experience is a plus. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a focused Trust & Estate team.

Duties

• Draft estate planning documents, petitions, and supporting documents for probate and administration proceedings.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and ensure effective representation.
• Appear in person in Surrogate's Court and utilize eCourts, NYSCEF, and WebSurrogate.
• Monitor work-in-progress to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Requirements

• Admitted to practice law in New York state.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience in trust and estate planning and administration.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management skills, and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Demonstrated record as a self-starter with an engaging personality.
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to advocate effectively for clients.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in New York state.

Skills

• Strong foundation in trust and estate planning and administration.
• Experience with New York State Surrogate's Courts.
• Proficiency in eCourts, NYSCEF, and WebSurrogate.
