A respected law firm located in West Palm Beach, FL is seeking an accomplished legal professional with a strong foundation in land use, zoning, and development permitting. This role involves providing strategic legal support on municipal and county-level regulatory matters, including permitting processes, rezoning, planning, and hearings before government bodies. The ideal candidate will bring seasoned judgment and a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks that shape land development in South Florida, particularly within the tri-county area.
Represent clients in matters involving land development approvals, zoning changes, and comprehensive plan amendments
Navigate legal processes tied to municipal and county permitting, variance requests, and development applications
Advise clients on compliance with land use laws and local ordinances
Draft, review, and negotiate agreements related to land development and property use
Appear before planning commissions, zoning boards, and other public bodies
Coordinate with local government staff and officials on entitlement matters
Conduct legal research and analyze regulatory impacts on real estate projects
Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to move projects forward
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on legal experience focused on land use, zoning, and development permitting
Deep familiarity with municipal codes, regional planning, and South Florida land use regulations
Demonstrated ability to advocate before local boards and governmental entities
Strong writing, negotiation, and public speaking skills
Capability to manage complex regulatory matters with minimal supervision
Willingness to travel within Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties as needed
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Admission to The Florida Bar is preferred
Willingness to obtain Florida Bar admission if not currently licensed
In-depth knowledge of land development laws and permitting processes
Effective client communication and issue-spotting abilities
Strategic thinking and legal risk assessment
Public hearing presentation and stakeholder negotiation skills
Proficient in interpreting zoning maps, municipal codes, and land use plans
