Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Pre-Litigation Attorney in Los Angeles, California. The role involves managing the negotiation phase of cases, from initiating claims with insurance carriers to reaching settlements without trial. The attorney will supervise Case Managers, review their work, and negotiate with insurance adjusters to achieve optimal outcomes for clients. If cases cannot be resolved, the attorney will facilitate the transition to litigation.

Duties

• Oversee and manage a caseload in the pre-litigation phase with Case Manager support.
• Review and approve Case Managers' work, including demand letters and medical records.
• Negotiate with insurance adjusters to secure favorable settlements for clients.
• Assess the legal viability and value of each case.
• Determine when cases should escalate to the litigation team.
• Meet with clients to resolve complex legal matters.
• Provide guidance and direction to the Case Manager team.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) and active license to practice.
• Approximately 3 years of experience in litigation or pre-litigation (personal injury).
• Experience negotiating with insurance carriers/adjusters.
• Ability to manage a high caseload simultaneously.
• Leadership skills to supervise and direct the Case Manager team.
• Bilingual Spanish/English (preferred but not required).

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD)

Certifications

• Active license to practice law

Skills

• Previous experience as a supervisor or team lead.
• Experience with depositions or drafting legal pleadings.
