Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Houston, Texas practice group. This role involves engaging in a dynamic defense practice, managing significant litigation matters for insurers, energy companies, transportation clients, and commercial businesses.

Duties

• Handle a diverse caseload including personal injury, wrongful death, trucking and transportation, maritime, energy, construction, and general liability matters.
• Represent regional and national clients, including insurers, energy companies, transportation carriers, and commercial businesses.
• Participate in all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, hearings, mediation, and trial preparation.
• Work directly with partners, clients, and carriers in an active, high expectation litigation environment.
• Take ownership of assignments and manage files with sound judgment and attention to detail.
• Contribute to a busy trial-focused practice with meaningful responsibility from the start.

Requirements

• Experience in civil litigation, insurance defense, personal injury, transportation, maritime, energy, construction, or related practice areas preferred.
• Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage responsibilities in a fast-paced litigation practice.
• Comfortable handling active files and working directly with clients and partners.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.

Skills

• Deposition and motion practice experience preferred.
• Experience with catastrophic injury, transportation, maritime, or energy-related litigation preferred.
• Courtroom, hearing, or trial preparation experience preferred.
• Background in defense litigation or high exposure civil matters preferred.
