Associate Attorney - Casualty Litigation

Profile

A law firm seeks a highly motivated and skilled associate attorney to join its Casualty Litigation Department in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This role is ideal for an individual with 1 to 5 years of litigation experience, preferably with a focus on casualty liability matters. The successful candidate will represent clients in complex litigation cases, providing effective legal solutions in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Candidates must be licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, with additional licenses in New Jersey or Maryland being a plus.

Duties:

• Represent clients in casualty liability litigation, managing a diverse caseload.
• Draft, review, and file legal documents including complaints, motions, and discovery responses.
• Prepare and present legal arguments during hearings, depositions, and trials.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategies and advise clients.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop defense strategies and resolve legal issues.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and experts.
• Assist with case management and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and deadlines.
• Participate in settlement negotiations and mediation when appropriate.

Requirements:

• 1 to 5 years of litigation experience, preferably in casualty liability or related fields.
• Must be admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar; additional licenses in New Jersey and/or Maryland are a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to advocate persuasively.
• Proven ability to handle complex litigation matters and meet deadlines.
• Experience in trial preparation and courtroom advocacy is highly desirable.
• A judicial clerkship is a plus but not required.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Pennsylvania Bar (required).
• Additional licensing in New Jersey and/or Maryland is beneficial.

Skills:

• Strong litigation and courtroom advocacy skills.
• Proficient in legal research and analysis.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and tasks simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Experience with casualty liability matters is preferred.
