Job Overview: A law firm in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a skilled Life Sciences Patent Agent to manage various patent projects in the field of life sciences, including drafting, prosecution, post-grant proceedings, opinions, and due diligence.

Job Duties:

• Draft patent applications and responses to office actions related to life sciences inventions.
• Prosecute patent applications before the USPTO.
• Conduct post-grant proceedings such as inter partes reviews (IPRs) and ex parte reexaminations.
• Provide legal opinions on patentability, validity, infringement, and freedom to operate.
• Conduct due diligence investigations related to life sciences patents.

Requirements:

• 1-10 years of experience working as a Patent Agent.
• A master’s degree in Organic Chemistry or a related field, with a preference for a PhD, or 2-3 years of experience specifically in patent preparation and prosecution for small-molecule pharmaceuticals.
• Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
