Senior IP Attorney

The candidate will manage outside counsel in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications both domestically and internationally. Draft and negotiate IP-related licensing, technology, joint-development, and non-disclosure agreements. Drive freedom to practice for product development; evaluate and resolve product clearance issues. Develop and investigate both IP enforcement opportunities and strategies for defensively responding to IP claims. Educate management and technical staff regarding intellectual property protection. Manage IP litigation with outside counsel. Support M&A due diligence activities. Should have a BS degree in engineering, preferably electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science and Juris Doctorate. Registered to practice before at least one state bar and the USPTO. Minimum of 5 years of legal experience including experience directed to patent prosecution, advising on patent portfolio management, and intellectual property transactions. Experience managing IP litigation. In-house counsel experience. Strong business acumen, capacity to learn business rapidly and become a business partner. Strong customer focus. Excellent skills in problem-solving, ability to deliver on complex situations. Ability to influence at varying levels of the organization. Communications skills and credibility – someone who is accessible and approachable. Integrity and good judgment are extremely important. A self-starter who can work independently to drive key initiatives.
