The candidate will develop a consistent global tax risk management strategy addressing the significant tax issues faced across the world. Coordinate with the Tax Compliance and Reporting, Transfer Pricing and Strategy & Planning teams to ensure we have accurately described and reported tax contingencies. Direct and develop audit defense and appeals for all US Federal and State taxes. Work with the Senior Tax Counsel, Tax Controversy and Tax subject matter experts to develop innovative approaches to favorably settle tax audits, providing direction to the global tax planning and tax compliance teams to minimize the firm's overall tax liability. Oversee and coordinate all US audit, and significant non-US tax audit and appeals processes ensuring consistency in information and approach. Direct and approve the flow of information to all tax authorities from tax team members. JD required, with active membership in a state bar. 5+ years of experience in a accounting firm, law firm and/or in-house at a multinational corporate group with experience in tax controversy (Counsel), 8+ years of experience in a accounting firm, law firm and/or in-house at a multinational corporate group with experience in tax controversy (Senior Counsel). Clear communication of legal concepts and ability to develop a positive narrative regarding tax positions. Demonstrated ability to provide clear advice in a dynamic environment. Ability to clearly communicate recommendations based on risk analysis in a highly ambiguous environment. Experience in broad areas of tax advisory in a large law firm and large corporate environment. Experience managing tax audits and appeals. Experience in broad areas of tax advisory.
