A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney licensed in South Carolina to join their team in Charleston, SC. This mostly remote position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in South Carolina family law. The successful candidate will work independently, manage a caseload, and appear in court as needed.

Duties

• Appear in court on behalf of clients and argue motions during legal proceedings.
• Complete legal research and prepare motions, pleadings, and briefs.
• Prepare various legal documents, such as motions, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence.
• Oversee paralegals, law clerks, and administrative staff.
• Track billable and non-billable time and enter time entries into the case management system.

Requirements

• Graduation from law school with a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree.
• Admitted to practice law in South Carolina and in good standing with the Bar.
• Experience in representing clients for at least 2 years.
• Ability to handle a heavy caseload with little supervision.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Proficient in online legal research platforms.
• Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide sound advice.
• Experience with legal drafting, negotiation, and litigation.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Education

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in South Carolina.
