A law firm in Atlanta is currently seeking a Patent Agent (Biological Sciences) with 2+ years of substantive patent experience, preferably three to five years. The candidate will be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications and conducting various patent-related analyses. This role also involves IP due diligences, patent litigations, post-grant proceedings (IPR, PGR, interferences), and other IP matters in the life sciences, focusing on cutting-edge technologies such as gene editing, cellular therapies, antibody-based therapeutics, and molecular diagnostics. The Patent Agent (Biological Sciences) will contribute to the firm's intellectual property practice, specializing in life sciences and cutting-edge technologies. The position requires advanced education in the biological sciences, registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and excellent written and oral communication skills. The candidate should have a desire for teamwork, significant responsibility, and client interaction.

 

Job Details:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications
  • Conduct patent validity, non-infringement, and freedom-to-operate analyses
  • Handle IP due diligences, patent litigations, and post-grant proceedings
  • Focus on life sciences and cutting-edge technologies, including gene editing, cellular therapies, antibody-based therapeutics, and molecular diagnostics.

 

Experience:

2+ years of substantive patent experience; three to five years preferred

 

Education:

Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred, or M.S. with several years of industry experience) in the biological sciences (e.g., Biology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Immunology, Virology)

 

Certifications:

Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
