The candidate will draft internal legal memoranda as well as briefs and other documents for filing with federal courts and federal agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service. Will interact directly with agents and attorneys of the Department of Justice, IRS, other federal agencies, state taxing agencies, and state regulatory bodies. Develop litigation skills through practice in federal district courts, the Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the United States Tax Court. Contribute to a broad range of tax matters, including complex tax planning. Represent public and private companies in tax controversy matters. Support the practice group by performing general research and writing. Should be licensed to practice law in the State of Alabama and be in good standing with the Alabama State Bar (or eligible to become licensed in Alabama).
