Energy Regulatory/Corporate Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a highly motivated Energy Regulatory/Corporate Associate Attorney with 4-5 years of experience in energy transactional and/or regulatory litigation and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic record, superior interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to handle complex energy regulatory matters.

Duties:

• Handle regulatory and compliance matters before the Texas Public Utility Commission and other state energy regulatory commissions.
• Manage cases involving the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and other ISO/RTOs or organized power markets.
• Advocate before state utility commissions and manage power transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, power sales, and related legal matters.
• Collaborate with a team to develop legal strategies and courses of action.
• Effectively manage multiple projects and provide sound legal advice.

Requirements:

• 4-5 years of energy transactional and/or regulatory litigation and compliance experience preferred.
• Active Bar license in IL.
• Strong academic record.
• Superior interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a team.
• Exceptional judgment in complex legal matters.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active Bar license in the state of Illinois.

Skills:

• Proficiency in energy regulatory and compliance matters.
• In-depth knowledge of state energy regulatory commissions and ISO/RTOs.
• Legal expertise in power transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and power sales.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate legal strategies.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
