A law firm is seeking a Patent Attorney to join their team in McLean, VA.

Job Overview:

The Patent Attorney will collaborate with partners and senior associates on various aspects of domestic and foreign patent preparation and prosecution, conduct legal research, and draft legal opinions for clients. Additionally, the role may involve engagement in patent office litigation matters.

Duties:

• Prepare and prosecute domestic and foreign patent applications.
• Research and draft legal opinions for clients on patent-related matters.
• Assist with drafting of patent opinions.
• Conduct freedom-to-operate patent searches and literature searches.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
• Master's or Ph.D. degrees in relevant fields are preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience in drafting patent applications and assisting with drafting opinions.
• Strong knowledge of patent law and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional research and analytical skills.
• Adherence to ethical standards and confidentiality in handling client information.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline (required).
• Master's or Ph.D. degrees in relevant fields (preferred).

Certifications:

• Must be a licensed attorney with a valid bar admission.

Skills:

• Proficiency in patent law and procedures.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Legal research and drafting skills.
• Knowledge of patent office litigation is a plus.
