Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with at least 4 years of litigation experience to join its Product Liability, Mass Torts & Class Actions practice, with a focus on class action matters. The position is available across U.S. offices, with a preference for candidates located in the New York metropolitan area. The role involves handling sophisticated class action defense matters, managing complex discovery, conducting legal research and writing, and participating in all stages of litigation. A hybrid work arrangement may be available.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in complex class action defense matters.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support case strategy and litigation preparation.
  • Draft persuasive briefs, motions, pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents.
  • Assist with and independently manage complex litigation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare matters for hearings, depositions, negotiations, settlements, and trials.
  • Manage large-scale discovery and coordinate document-intensive litigation matters.
  • Oversee multiple matters and maintain organized case dockets.
  • Attend and participate in court hearings, depositions, negotiations, trials, and other significant litigation proceedings.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients by providing timely updates, strategic advice, and responsive legal support.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and business professionals to develop effective and innovative litigation strategies.
  • Monitor developments in applicable laws, regulations, and legal precedents.
  • Maintain compliance with professional, legal, and organizational standards.
  • Participate in professional development programs to strengthen legal, technology, management, and leadership capabilities.
  • Contribute to professional organizations, community initiatives, and pro bono legal services.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of litigation experience, preferably with a large law firm.
  • Experience defending class actions involving securities, data and privacy, consumer litigation, or related matters.
  • Experience managing multiple litigation matters or a multi-matter docket.
  • Experience handling large-scale discovery.
  • Previous federal judicial clerkship experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce persuasive and high-quality legal writing.
  • Ability to manage complex cases while meeting deadlines and balancing competing priorities.
  • Admission to practice law in the jurisdiction where the candidate is applying.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a demanding legal environment.
  • Occasional domestic or international travel may be required.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar admission in the applicable jurisdiction.
  • Federal judicial clerkship experience is preferred.
