Job Overview

A highly respected law firm is seeking an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its growing immigration practice in Phoenix, Arizona. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic attorney early in their career to develop hands-on experience representing clients in removal defense, family-based immigration, and other immigration matters, while working closely with a supportive team of experienced attorneys and legal professionals.

Duties

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients

  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals

  • Manage and prioritize a workload of active immigration cases

  • Conduct intake visits with detained individuals at detention centers

  • Prepare and file diverse immigration applications, including family-based petitions and removal defense filings

  • Review and revise immigration application packets as needed

  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations regarding changes in immigration law

  • Conduct consultations with potential clients to determine case strategy

  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for testimony before courts and USCIS

  • Draft and submit legal briefs and supporting documents for a variety of immigration cases

Requirements

  • 0–3 years of immigration law experience

  • Ability to manage and advance legal cases independently

  • Willingness to work collaboratively with fellow associates and legal staff

  • Commitment to providing high-quality, client-centered legal service

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law (or pending bar admission if recently graduated)

Skills

  • Familiarity with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian Petitions, EOIR proceedings, Detained cases, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS filings

  • Preferred experience with Case Management Software

  • Spanish/English bilingual skills preferred, but not required

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills

  • Strong strategic thinking and attention to detail
