A law firm in Kalamazoo, MI, is seeking an experienced Tax Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax compliance and law firm or public accounting firm experience, demonstrating exceptional business development skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects. Duties:

• Provide expert legal advice on tax-related matters, including compliance, planning, and controversy.
• Manage and oversee tax files, ensuring accurate and timely handling of client cases.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, demonstrating the ability to grow and manage a portable business book.
• Supervise client interactions and lead cases through various stages, ensuring high-quality service.
• Handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously while maintaining high responsiveness.
• Collaborate with colleagues and clients to address and resolve complex tax issues.
• Stay current on tax law and regulation changes to provide up-to-date advice.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a law or public accounting firm with significant tax compliance experience.
• Proven ability to develop business and manage client relationships.
• Demonstrated capability to handle multiple cases and projects with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent customer/client service skills in building and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation is strongly preferred.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Michigan Bar is required.
