Associate Director - Associate Director of Institutional Equity
Duties: Serve as resource on university policies related to equal opportunity, nondiscrimination, whistleblowing, anti-harassment, retaliation, and other civil rights policies and legislation, administer the office's formal investigation and informal resolution processes and collaborate on initiatives to support equity. In partnership with the director, interpret applicable nondiscrimination, anti-harassment, and other civil rights related policies, regulations, guidelines, and laws, aid in the drafting and updating of university policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations In partnership with the director, provide counsel to and advise university administrators, managers, supervisors, and departments about equal opportunity, nondiscrimination, and anti-harassment policies, regulations, guidelines, and laws, maintain knowledge and education in the areas of diversity, equal opportunity, Titles VI, VII and IX and all other pertinent laws and regulations. In partnership with the director, assist in the coordination and administration of the university's Title VI, Title VII and Title IX complaint intake, triage, investigation and resolution process. Investigate discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation complaints by applicants, students, faculty, staff, visitors, and administrators, prepare necessary reports to conduct and resolve such investigations, and provide a rapid response to significant events. Assist with the coordination and preparation of the university's formal position statements in response to charges of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Texas Workforce Commission - Civil Rights Division, and/or the U.S. Department of Education - Office for Civil Rights. Respond to requests for information from federal and/or state equal employment opportunity officials and serve as liaison to such agencies. Facilitate discussions and mediate concerns between staff and management, and student and faculty following the office's informal resolution process. Develop and administer compliance training programs, in partnership with other staff, relating to policies and procedures enforced by the office, collaborate with other office staff on the continued efficiency of the unit's outreach efforts on campus and in the greater Austin communit and participate on various campus committees. Collaborate with other office staff and appropriate university officers and administrators regarding departmental or campus climate concerns. In collaboration with the director, serve as the liaison with the Office of Human Resources, Office of Legal Affairs, University Compliance Services, UT System Office of General Counsel, and other key university collaborators.
