Duties
Conduct in-depth research on federal, state, and local tax statutes, regulations, and rulings to support client strategies
Draft memoranda, opinion letters, and tax planning documents tailored to individual and corporate clients
Assist with tax controversies, including the preparation of responses to audit inquiries and appeals before tax authorities
Collaborate on transactional tax analyses for mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and restructuring initiatives
Participate in client consultations, explaining complex tax concepts in clear, relatable terms
Support senior attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, and trials related to tax litigation
Maintain organized case files and track key deadlines for filings, elections, and tax payments
Requirements
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
Admission to the Georgia Bar (active)
Solid understanding of income, estate, gift, and corporate tax law
Demonstrated ability to conduct detailed legal research using platforms such as Bloomberg Law, Westlaw, or LexisNexis
Proven written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex rules into practical guidance
Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail for deciphering intricate tax issues
The capacity to manage multiple matters simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines
Self-motivated work style, with the aptitude to collaborate effectively within a team environment
Education
J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school, with coursework or externships focused on tax law preferred
Certifications
CPA, LL.M. in Taxation, or other tax-related credentials are advantageous but not required
Skills
Advanced legal research and writing proficiency
Ability to interpret and apply tax statutes, regulations, and case law to client scenarios
Client-focused approach, with strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and trust
Critical thinking and strategic problem-solving when navigating complex tax matters
