Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking an experienced Estate Planning Attorney to join its team in Eugene, Oregon. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in estate planning and administration, including the autonomous management of client matters. The role offers an opportunity to work with clients on creating and administering wills, trusts, and other related documents, while ensuring compliance with state and federal estate and tax laws. This is a full-time position that requires strong legal research, communication skills, and a commitment to professional development.

Location:

Duties:

  • Provide ethical, practical, creative, and responsive client service throughout all stages of estate planning and administration.
  • Counsel clients on strategies to distribute their assets according to their wishes.
  • Draft wills, trusts, and related estate planning documents.
  • File and manage probate and trust administration proceedings.
  • Support other practice groups, including transactional work and probate/trust litigation as needed.
  • Serve as an engaged member of the firm and community.
  • Collaborate with the firm’s professional staff to maximize client value.
  • Keep clients informed and supported through all stages of representation.
  • Operate with accountability, integrity, and humility.
  • Demonstrate ongoing commitment to professional development and self-care.

Requirements:

  • Current member in good standing of the Oregon State Bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of estate planning and administration experience.
  • Proven ability to autonomously manage client matters.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong desire to contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Prepared to manage a full client load with mentorship and support as appropriate.
  • Willingness to live near one of the firm’s office locations and integrate into the local professional community.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Oregon State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage complex estate planning and administration matters.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
