Location:
Washington, DC
Duties:
Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in electrical and computer technologies
Engage in strategic counseling for clients in the development and protection of IP assets
Participate in post-grant proceedings and provide litigation support as needed
Draft legal opinions on patentability, freedom to operate, and infringement
Collaborate with colleagues and clients on a wide variety of intellectual property issues
Requirements:
2–4 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution
Demonstrated focus on electrical/computer fields of technology
Experience handling complex patent applications and interacting with USPTO examiners
Strong client service and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented legal environment
Education:
Undergraduate or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
Certifications:
Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
Admission to at least one U.S. state bar
Skills:
Excellent legal writing and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and technical aptitude
Attention to detail in both legal drafting and technical accuracy
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Team-oriented approach with a commitment to client service
