University Counsel

The candidate will be responsible for providing legal counsel to the Stanford University School of Medicine (SOM) Research Management Group (RMG), working with faculty and staff at SOM, but may also provide advice across the University. Will work closely with other University offices to provide analysis and advice on complex research projects, and policy interpretation. Must have experience with federal grants, drafting and negotiating research agreements, and working with an Institutional Review Board (IRB). Other preferred areas of expertise include non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), service agreements, and federal and state privacy and data security laws. Should have a law degree from an accredited law school and 6+ years of relevant experience, and be a member of the California Bar or able to become one shortly. Must have excellence in academic credentials, writing, analytical and communication skills as well as good judgment and a practical approach to solving legal problems.
