Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in Glen Allen, VA, is actively seeking an experienced litigation associate to support its expanding general liability and workers' compensation practice. The position offers hands-on involvement in all stages of litigation, opportunities to represent clients in various forums, and direct collaboration with a seasoned team of legal professionals. Duties:

• Conduct a thorough evaluation of case files and legal claims

• Draft comprehensive pleadings, memoranda, and appellate briefs

• Participate in depositions, including expert and corporate designee (30(b)(6)) witnesses

• Respond to and initiate discovery requests

• Represent clients in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials

• Assist with all phases of trial preparation and strategy

• Engage and coordinate with expert witnesses

• Maintain consistent communication with clients and internal teams

• Track and meet annual billable hour expectations (1950 hours)

• Some regional travel may be necessary based on case assignments

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in general liability litigation; prior exposure to workers' compensation matters is advantageous

• Demonstrated ability to independently manage civil litigation from intake through resolution

• Experience conducting and defending complex depositions and drafting dispositive motions

• Prior involvement in negotiations, settlement conferences, or mediations

• Admitted to practice law in Virginia; additional state bar admissions are welcomed but not required

• Strong legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills

• Proficient in legal research using both traditional and digital tools

• Must be responsive, dependable, and able to manage multiple case responsibilities in a team environment

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in Virginia
