Job Overview

A law firm seeks a senior associate or counsel with at least six years of tax equity transactional experience to join their team in New York, NY. The role involves working directly with the leader of the energy tax team, providing ample opportunities for client contact and transaction management.

Duties

• Engage in tax equity partnership transactions, inverted lease, and sale-leaseback transactions.
• Handle equipment safe harbor transactions and tax credit transfer transactions.
• Provide counsel in substantive Federal tax credit matters and deliver written advice.
• Collaborate with project finance practice, including corporate, debt, and securitization input.

Requirements

• Minimum of six years of tax equity transactional experience at a national law firm.
• Experience in sectors such as wind, solar, battery storage, geothermal, nuclear, advanced manufacturing, and/or EV charging preferred.
• Substantial experience representing project developers and sponsors is ideal.
• Investor-side lawyers interested in sponsor-side practice are encouraged to apply.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills

• Strong transactional and advisory skills in tax equity matters.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to manage complex transactions and client relationships.
