Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A prestigious law firm based in Miami, FL, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney specializing in Workers' Compensation defense. This role is ideal for attorneys with a minimum of 3 years of experience in workers' compensation claims defense, including cases related to The Jones Act and the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act. This position involves representing clients in various stages of the legal process, including trials and appeals, and working closely with a diverse range of clients, including employers and insurance carriers.

Duties:

• Review and summarize medical records to support legal arguments.
• Draft motions and legal documents for court filings.
• Prepare clients for and attend depositions.
• Represent clients during hearings and trials.
• Handle all aspects of discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery motions.
• Attend court appearances to advocate on behalf of clients.
• Take and defend depositions of both fact and expert witnesses.
• Draft comprehensive reports and legal documents throughout the litigation process.

Requirements:

• Admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana (dual licensure in Illinois is advantageous).
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in Workers' Compensation defense.
• Proficient in drafting legal motions and attending hearings.
• Ability to manage all phases of the litigation process, from discovery to trial.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• An active member in good standing with the Indiana State Bar.

Certifications:

• Indiana Bar admission is required.
• Illinois Bar admission is preferred.

Skills:

• Strong analytical and legal research skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Competency in preparing and defending depositions.
• Ability to handle complex cases involving workers' compensation claims.
• Strong advocacy and negotiation skills to represent clients in court effectively.
