Job Overview

A reputable immigration law firm in Miami, FL is seeking an experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join its dynamic legal team. This role offers the opportunity to handle complex immigration matters, including removal defense and family-based petitions, while mentoring junior attorneys and contributing to strategic legal planning. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned practitioner with a passion for advocacy, client service, and professional growth within a collaborative team environment.

Duties

  • Represent clients in immigration court and before the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), focusing on detained and non-detained removal proceedings

  • Conduct client intakes and strategy sessions, including visits to detention centers

  • Prepare and submit a wide range of immigration filings, including waivers, asylum applications, and adjustment of status

  • Draft and review legal briefs, motions, and client documentation

  • Develop case strategy and guide clients through USCIS interviews and court testimony

  • Provide legal consultations to prospective clients and determine eligibility for immigration relief

  • Mentor junior attorneys and collaborate with legal assistants on case preparation

  • Engage with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to communicate updates in immigration law

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and ensure compliance with legal standards

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience practicing immigration law

  • Significant experience handling EOIR, detained cases, family-based petitions, and humanitarian relief

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex caseloads independently

  • Proven record of successful representation and case advancement

  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

  • Active membership in a U.S. state bar (Florida preferred or ability to obtain prompt admission)

Skills

  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficiency with immigration case management software (preferred)

  • Client-focused with a strategic, problem-solving approach
