Job Overview:
A leading law firm with a strong presence in the Pacific Northwest is seeking a Mid-Level Tax Associate to join its Corporate practice group. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 3–5 years of experience in federal tax law, including both transactional work and tax controversy. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in working on complex business transactions, particularly in the renewable energy space, and will contribute to a collaborative, high-performing legal team across multiple offices.

Location:

• Salt Lake City, UT

Duties:

• Advise clients on federal tax aspects of business transactions

• Assist with tax structuring of mergers and acquisitions, fund formations, and financing arrangements

• Provide legal counsel on renewable energy financing and tax credit transactions

• Handle tax controversy matters, including state and local tax issues

• Work collaboratively with partners and senior attorneys on complex projects

• Draft and review legal documents, including tax opinions, contracts, and transaction-related filings

Requirements:

• 3–5 years of experience in federal tax law

• Exposure to both transactional tax matters and tax controversy work

• Familiarity with renewable energy financing transactions is highly preferred

• Background in corporate finance transactions such as M&A, equity/debt offerings, and fund formations

• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a team-based environment

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active member in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar

• Eligibility for admission in the jurisdiction of the office location preferred
