A law firm seeks a talented Junior to Mid-level Bankruptcy Associate to join its Restructuring & Bankruptcy team in the Atlanta office. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 4 years of experience in bankruptcy law and lending. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-stakes cases across state, federal, and bankruptcy courts. Duties:

  • Assist in representing clients in complex bankruptcy and restructuring matters, including both debtor and creditor-side cases.
  • Work on lending transactions related to distressed assets, including secured lending and other financing arrangements.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate bankruptcy filings, motions, and other legal documents in both state and federal courts.
  • Provide legal research and analysis in the context of bankruptcy proceedings and relevant financial laws.
  • Take ownership of tasks and manage projects under tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality work products.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to develop legal strategies and solutions.
  • Participate in court hearings, filings, and client meetings, contributing to both litigation and transactional matters.
  • Stay current on bankruptcy law developments and apply them to client matters.
  • Contribute to the firm’s business development efforts by maintaining client relationships and identifying new opportunities.

Requirements:

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in bankruptcy law, preferably with exposure to both litigation and transactional aspects.
  • Familiarity with bankruptcy court proceedings, including federal, state, and bankruptcy courts.
  • Experience in lending and distressed asset financing is highly desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively draft and articulate complex legal arguments.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Education:

  • J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Georgia, or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of bankruptcy law, including debt restructuring, creditor/debtor matters, and bankruptcy litigation.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and projects simultaneously under strict deadlines.
  • Proficient in using legal research tools and resources.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, colleagues, and senior attorneys.
