Profile

A law firm is seeking a Litigation Attorney for its Madison office with 3+ years of experience in litigation, including trial work, preferably with a background in consumer law. However, LawtonCates will provide training and education for the right candidate.

Job Overview:

The candidate will join the consumer protection litigation team, handling cases involving automobile dealer fraud, Lemon Law, debt collection litigation and defense, foreclosure defense, vehicle repossession claims, and similar matters.

Duties:

• Handle consumer protection litigation cases.
• Represent clients in automobile dealer fraud, Lemon Law, debt collection litigation and defense, foreclosure defense, vehicle repossession claims, and related matters.
• Conduct legal research and analysis.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and legal documents.
• Prepare for and attend court hearings and trials.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and courts.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in litigation, including trial work.
• Background in consumer law preferred.
• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the State Bar of Wisconsin, or eligibility for admission by reciprocity or passing the Wisconsin Bar exam.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple cases.
• Detail-oriented and organized.

Education:

Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

Admission to the State Bar of Wisconsin or eligibility for admission.
