Financial Systems Accountant

The candidate will provide technical and application support for testing, and maintaining enterprise and web-based financial applications. Execute testing of new financial applications or upgrades/enhancements to existing applications. Work with users in support of financial database needs & requirements and process & software modifications. Assist with technical and business skills to recommend automated workflow solutions to improve business processes. Assist in the maintenance of templates supporting accounting operations to include cash disbursements, client invoices and billing proformas. Partner with Planning & Analysis team to assess and deliver on reporting needs by utilizing knowledge of database and application functionality. May research new technology options and solutions in order to meet department's goals and/or objectives. Serve as liaison between Financial Systems, Information Services and other business/technical leads to ensure required support is provided and to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of department operations. Provide guidance and oversight into financial system setups, overrides and user settings to fully embrace technology. Extends training for new features or functionality available to accounting. Collaborate with senior financial accountants for appropriate masking in the core financial system to ensure proper coding of transactions to the firm's general ledger. Routinely audit users and systems for adherence to standard accounting operations. Participate in and provide support for the annual financial audit. Adept at embracing new opportunities and challenges; proven experience with new initiatives and associated change management. Commitment to teamwork and collaborative problem solving. Complete special projects as assigned. Should have a bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university in Accounting, Information Systems or related discipline; and 3 years of experience in accounting, management of applications; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of standard accounting policies and procedures and law firm operations is a plus.
