Role Description

We are seeking an Associate Attorney to join our expanding national practice. This position is based in Lawrence, Kansas, and offers a flexible four-day workweek designed to support work-life balance and long-term sustainability in legal practice.

Responsibilities include preparing claims and appeals, communicating with clients and VA personnel, collaborating with colleagues on case strategy, attending legal conferences twice a year, and occasionally meeting clients out of state. A hybrid work arrangement may be available depending on prior experience in VA disability law.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be active members in good standing of the Bar. The ideal applicant will:

• Demonstrate strong writing, communication, and analytical skills
• Approach advocacy with empathy, cultural competence, and attention to detail
• Exhibit sound judgment and a commitment to ethical practice
• Ability to prioritize while meeting all deadlines and demonstrating a high level of reliability
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Full conversational Spanish for client correspondence is beneficial 

Experience in disability law or administrative law is welcome but not required. We especially encourage applicants from backgrounds historically underrepresented in the legal profession to apply.
