This year will be a pivotal one for the US energy transformation. As a US HR Country Consultant you will be front and center, watching the energy transformation unfold, and supporting US Leaders on delivering the four key country priorities:

US Country Consultants have a unique opportunity to get exposure to every business in Shell, from Upstream to Downstream, Integrated Gas, Projects & Technology and Functions. Within these businesses there is large diversity, offering exposure to operated assets with both union and non-union populations, commercial businesses & trading, and non-integrated companies (PCs) and Joint Ventures (JV’s).

The US Consultant Organization is part of the HR North America organization, which includes US Policy & Benefits, ER/IR & Assets, DEI and Country HR for Canada, Mexico & Colombia. The US HR Country Consultant team currently has 10 members and reports to the Lead HR Consultant US.

What is the role

As an HR Consultant, you will be deployed to high value-add projects in support of the country people and business agendas, where you will:

Define, design and lead time-specific projects and interventions that aid in the delivery of the global Business or Function People Agenda in country. This could include organization re-design, DEI/talent strategy, MA&D (Mergers, Acquisitions and Divestments), recruitment strategies for growth, implementing portfolio companies, and supporting operated assets in delivering world class performance and digital/asset of the future plays.

Manage delivery of defined interventions through natural teams – leading cross-functional, cross-country, and virtual team members where needed.

Deploy interventions to drive organizational capability, driving Powering Progress in region.

Build HR skills, capabilities, and experiences through project assignments, and learning opportunities.

Requirements

What we need from you

You must have legal authorization to work in the USA on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Minimum of 5 (five) years of experience in any work-related industries.

Bachelor’s Degree in any related field is required.

Ability to collaborate with Country HR colleagues (HR Specialist, HR Advice, Policy, etc.) and/or HR Business Partners, including across JV (Joint Venture) environments.

Ability to acquire understanding of the specific business & functional context for which the intervention is required – including business value drivers and cost management levers.

Ability to engage and influence business or function stakeholders.

Clearly articulates business value drivers and impact from projects, demonstrating strategic thinking capability.

Assesses value relative to business impact; prioritizes work scope; challenges appropriately

Effective consulting skills: diagnosis, inquiry, contracting and facilitation – to accurately scope the required work, assess resources required, contract (with support from Lead HR Consultants as necessary) the right team and facilitate defined interventions.

Constructs and monitors a project plan, manages resources and deals effectively with obstacles to ensure delivery.

Ability to support the use of organization change management methodologies and associated tools.

Effective use of data and trend analysis to determine root cause and to define and track relevant business outcomes.

Ability to deliver through others.

Effective coach to cross-functional, virtual teams beyond formal line of authority.
