Work Hours/Shift:
Full-time/Days/Monday-Friday/8hours shifts
You Will Be Responsible For:
Greets, and prepare patients for cardiac stress testing with appropriate history, proper skin preparation, and EKG lead placement.
Screens, communicates and responds to patient needs timely and appropriately. Informs patients and their families of anticipated or completed procedures, appropriate follow up with physician and schedulers.
Evaluates patients to ensure proper EKG tracing obtained prior to beginning any stress testing. Ability to recognize variances in EKG tracing and compare with previous tracing to determine when appropriate to be reviewed by the physician before beginning exam.
Reviews patient chart for contraindicate medications prior to exam. Maintains understanding of cardiac and hypertensive medications that could potentially interfere with cardiac stress testing.
Prepares departmental charts for Nuclear, Stress Echo, and Treadmill in timely manner.
Qualifications
What You Will Need:
High School graduate or equivalent
Knowledge of the Quinton treadmill and Cardiac Science monitoring system, standard tests and procedures, and typical readings including arrhythmias and abnormalities.
Knowledge of typical patient reactions and signs of distress including the ability to recognize, report and treat potentially lethal arrhythmias.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the heart and cardiac medications
BLS certification required / ACLS certification preferred (If RN, ACLS is required).
Cardiovascular stress testing on-the-job training or completion of an approved CVT program is required.
Completion of AHMG EKG tracing recognition exam and training will be required upon hire.
IBHRE (International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners) Certification is preferred.
Job Summary:
The Cardiovascular Stress Technologist is responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of cardiac rhythms and rhythm EKG analysis in person during treadmill and/or chemical stress testing; evaluation of online information, retrieval and triage of that information, preparing it for entry to electronic health record, and physician evaluation. Determines when an adequate test has been obtained and consults supervisor or cardiologist as needed. May take medical history, record vital signs, schedule patients.
