Pasadena, CA — A new survey of the San Francisco Bay Area reveals that job growth was stronger in the region than earlier estimates suggested, by over 49,000 jobs in 2010.

It shows that most of the nine counties saw positive jobs growth. In fact, the region accounted for almost 80 percent of the additional 62,000 jobs that were revealed because of the revisions. The results come from the Bay Area News Group's analysis of the state's Employment Development Department data.

The revised estimates for the Bay Area counties which had a positive jobs growth are as follows:
  • East Bay: +13,600
  • San Francisco-San Mateo-Marin region: +24,700
  • Solano County: +3,200
  • South Bay: +8,200
EmploymentCrossing CEO A. Harrison Barnes says that most of the growth in the Bay Area was from tech businesses hiring and the resulting upturn in businesses that serve them. ''There is also a lot of hospitality and leisure services jobs available right now. But financial services firms are hiring too.'' Barnes's firm has been able to find over 104,000 jobs in the Bay Area in the last seven days. The main sectors are information technology (20,000+), managerial (18,000+), healthcare (14,000+), and sales (10,000+).
