Pasadena, CA — Despite efforts being made to add new jobs in Washington, not much improvement in the employment rate has yet been seen. Even after an estimated increase of 5,700 jobs last month, unemployment rate remains unchanged at 9.3 percent.

The Employment Security Department report, after months of revision, shows that Washington’s jobless rate has been steadily rising up after a gradual decline to 8.8 percent in March. At the beginning of 2010, the unemployment rate had peaked to 10 percent.

Wednesday's Employment Security Department report shows that there has been significant growth in the number of jobs in11 consecutive months. It is believed that in the process of reducing the unemployment rate by 1 percentage point, the state would have to add about 6,000 jobs a month for a year.

While many industries posted job gains like - 1,700 jobs gained in leisure and hospitality; 1,600 jobs in manufacturing; 1,200 jobs in retail trade, there was also a turn down with 2,200 jobs lost in the ''other services'' category, and 1,000 jobs lost in the information sector.

About 311,027 people in Washington were jobless and looking for work in July, and 185,358 of them received unemployment benefits. But, 60,432 workers in the state had run out of all unemployment benefits, as of August 6, 2011.

EmploymentCrossing has been keeping a track of the unemployment rate and has found over 35,000 jobs in Washington. It lists about 2,800+ jobs in retail sector, 6,800+ jobs in the information technology sector while 2,500+ blue collar jobs are available in the state. You also get an option of searching for profession specific jobs as well as geographic specific jobs on EmploymentCrossing.
