EmploymentCrossing helps make a transition for the veterans, finds over 21,500 jobs

Pasadena, CA, November 11, 2011 — According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistic reports, both lethargic demand and mismatched skill sets has led to a national unemployment rate over 11 percent in October. This is high from that of 9.1 percent last month. The overall jobless rate for veterans nationally stood at nearly 8 percent in October.

The job scenario for veterans in Ohio has been miserable post 9/11. Nearly 14.8 percent veterans were unemployed in the state in May. This signified about 8,000 of 54,000 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans in the work force. More than 80 employers operated stalls at the Veterans Job Fair which was held on Wednesday to help make a change for veterans. Over 400 veterans lined up for interviews.

There were 15,958 workers without jobs in Collier and about 30,858 in Lee in September. About 14 percent of the veterans are unemployed in Florida and nearly 12.1 percent in Philadelphia. Out of these 12.1 percent, the hardest-hit are males of 20 to 24 years of age. The major problem is with the veterans of the post 9/11, from which nearly 240,000 are jobless. According to the White House, about 86 companies have agreed to hire 25,000 veterans.
