EmploymentCrossing Supports JOLTS Report With its Own Database Listing 1.8 Million Job Openings

April 2, 2013 — Pasadena, California —  The latest Job Openings and Labor Turnover Summary (JOLTS) released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that there were 3.7 million job openings in the United States as of January 2013. EmploymentCrossing.com supports this finding by reporting that the site’s database currently has 1.8 million job openings.

The total number of hires reported by the BLS stood at 4.19 million in January 2013, while the number of quits was 1.6 percent. The total number of hires for 2012 was 52 million and the total number of separations was 50 million, which means a total jobs gain of 2 million (includes workers hired and separated more than once in 2012).

Retail - 189,451 job openings

Information Technology - 189,072 job openings

Nursing - 146,951 job openings

Engineering - 135,823 job openings
