EmploymentCrossing Reports about 4900 Active Green Jobs in the U.S.

EmploymentCrossing sees an immense rise in the recruitment of personnel for green jobs, this year. The job-opening research institution reveals around 4900 active green jobs in the U.S. and says that more growth is bound to be seen following U.S. President Barack Obama's speech last week. The President insisted that the new emissions restrictions and regulations will lead to an increase in green jobs with more opportunities being created in modernizing power plants, manufacturing windmills, installing solar panels and so on.

With U.S. aiming to develop smart growth planning and sustainability, many states and counties are focusing on the creation of green jobs. Yet, in the quest of green jobs, politicians have largely focused only on manufacturing jobs. EmploymentCrossing believes that green jobs go beyond that periphery to include installation and maintenance jobs as well.

Harrison Barnes, Chief Executive Officer at EmploymentCrossing confirms that though one fourth of this year's full-time workers employed in the solar power industry are in manufacturing, there is a great percentage of workforce involved in functions like solar-panel installation, research and development, project development, finance as well as sales and distribution. Likewise, an article featuring on YaleGlobal Online on 27 June, informs that while 33,000 jobs lie in manufacturing in the U.S. wind sector, 39,000 job openings are present in installation, maintenance and operation spheres too.

Green jobs are getting a boost in areas like Prince George's county too. Adam Ortiz, Acting Director of the county's Environmental Resources Department says that Prince George will need 40,000 storm-water devices in the future, which will create 5,000 jobs in the next decade. Further, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced $30 million in the first round of funding for the implementation of regional sustainability plans developed under the Governor's $100 million 'Cleaner, Greener Communities program.' This will create many green jobs for New Yorkers.

"Going greener is having more benefits than thought of," says Barnes. "They are not just improving energy efficiency and reducing pollution but providing essential jobs and raising the quality of life for Americans," he affirms.
