Publisher Jobs

A publisher is responsible for ensuring successful production and distribution of various publications of the house. Specific duties of a publisher include managing teams of writers and editors, printing department, logistics personnel and others; making strategic decisions on various issues surrounding publications; managing media relations; participating in recruitment and training of department personnel; managing distributor and retailer relations; allocating resources to various departments; keeping updated on new publications from competitors; handling administrative issues in the house; making final decisions on contracts with writers, and other staff members and performing other tasks as required. A publisher typically reports to the vice president.

A publisher should have an associate\'s degree or a bachelor\'s degree in a relevant area. Strong track record in the area of publishing is essential for a publisher role. Strong ability to ability to lead and motivate others is essential.
