In Clatsop County, Oregon, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate has jumped again from 6 percent in October to 6.4 percent in November. The rate rose from 4.9 percent in September to 6 percent in October as thousands of jobs evaporated across the nation.
The county's November rate was below the statewide rate of 8.1 percent and the national rate of 6.7 percent, according to the Oregon Employment Department's publication "Labor Trends."
Leisure and hospitality employment fell by 190 jobs, food manufacturing cut 200, and retail trade dropped 60 jobs. Local government education added 150 jobs as the school year continued and other local governments gained 60 jobs.
